Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai/Lower Hutt General Constituency
Independent
My principal place of residence is in the Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai/Lower Hutt General Constituency area.
I’m standing to bring a strong, local voice to Greater Wellington Regional Council backed by experience as a Hutt City Councillor, Wainuiomata Community Board Chair, and member of the Whaitua Committee, where I helped shape our regional water strategy. In 2019, I stood alongside Community Boards to oppose consents for commercial water bottling from the Waiwhetu aquifer, raising concerns about sustainability, water security, and the need for greater transparency. I’m a senior manager for the Sisters of Compassion Group, an advisor to the Manaaki Ability Trust, a trustee for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award, a Māori Warden and classical tenor. I serve as a voice for the community to create lasting impact for current and future generations. I will uphold the Regional Council’s role as environmental regulator of local councils and advocate for reliable public transport, economic growth, and climate resilience. Vote Gabriel Tupou for experience, integrity, and care.
